MANAGE YOUR MEMORIES will begin August 13 and conclude September 21. Each week you will be supplied with video lessons, written information with photos, and weekly action steps to take to MANAGE YOUR MEMORIES!
There will also be an optional private Facebook group for each person to ask questions, share progress, and cheer everyone else along!
What will the class cover?
The class will take place over five weeks. This is what will be covered each week:
WEEK ONE: The why and how of managing your memories NOW. I’ll share stories, common struggles, and show you all of my favorite tips and tools for getting your memories controlled, accessible, and SAFE. We’ll get started on making sure our memories from here on out will be safe and sound.
WEEK TWO: Photos and Negatives. During this week, we’ll focus on physical photos and negatives (remember those?) Most of have shoeboxes and random photo albums that we keep promising to do something with. We’re going to tackle that project this week. I’ll equip you with my favorite tools, tips, and strategies to get those photos organized and preserved.
WEEK THREE: Photos may make up the bulk of our memories, but there is so much more to consider. Do you have artwork, greeting cards, letters, and other sentimental items that you just don’t know what to do with? I’ll walk you step by step through a plan to preserve your memories and clear the clutter. Win-win!
WEEK FOUR: This week we are back to our digital memories—and not just our photos! Most of also have digital video, social media accounts, emails, and more. We need a plan! We’ll work through common “memory banks” and work to develop a plan that works for YOU and YOUR memories, all the while helping you clear the digital clutter and give you peace of mind.
WEEK FIVE: Now that you are equipped and ready, we’ll conclude our workshop by answering the, “Now what?” questions. We’ll cover ideas of how to display photos (printing, framing, albums, and more!) as well as how to move forward in this ever-increasing digital world. I’ll teach you all my tricks and share with you my favorite places to print photos, photobooks, and more!
Do I have to be online at any specific time?
No! You do not have to be online at a certain time. On Monday mornings of the workshop schedule, you will receive an email with links to all videos, information, task list, links, tips, and more.
Do I have to keep to the time schedule of the workshop?
No, you do not. You are free to download the information and work through the class at your own pace and on your own schedule. However, the open question and answer Facebook group will only run for the five scheduled weeks.
Do I need any fancy programs to help me complete the workshop?
Nope! However, I will share some ideas and strategies that use programs like Photoshop and Lightroom. But you do NOT need to have them (or even know what they are!) I just want to share ideas with those who are ready for more.
Well, what DO I need?
In order to be successful, you will need a few things. You’ll need time (either during the workshop or later on at your own convenience). I’d be lying to say this is all a quick and easy process. It’s not, but it is SO worth it! You’ll also need a stable internet connection so you can download the information you need. Any videos will be available for both streaming and downloading. Finally, you need a willing spirit! Taking control of your memories means being committed to deciding on and implementing a plan. It’s easy to put it off until tomorrow, but you never know when tomorrow won’t be an option.
Can I just download all of the information at once rather than wait week to week?
For our first run of this workshop, the answer is no. The reason is two-fold: 1) We have found that people are more committed to making progress when tasks are given in bite-sized pieces. It’s easy to download everything, get excited, and then fizzle out. We don’t want that to happen! 2) Since our first group are bit like guinea pigs (and thus the low price), we really want our students to offer valuable feedback so we can improve. It may be that we will tweak the schedule based on feedback as we go. For that reason, for this first workshop, we will deliver new information each week rather than all at once.
If I get stuck, how can I get help?
During the five weeks the workshop is running, you will have access to a private Facebook group made up of other students. That forum will allow you to receive input both from me and from other students. I will also be available via email during the course of the workshop to answer questions and give suggestions. After the conclusion of the workshop, you are still able to email me with questions, however, I cannot guarantee a quick response (though I will always try!)
